The first edition of the course "Direction Employment - IT and Digital Skills for Job Insertion", organised by Lai-momo, with the participation of the employment agency Lavoropiù and the training provider Selezione & Formazione, took place between 2nd November 2020 and 18th February 2021.
The course, financed by the EEA and Norway Grants Fund for Youth Employment and addressed to 15 NEET participants belonging to disadvantaged groups and at risk of marginalisation, was held almost entirely online via Zoom platform in order to comply with restrictions due to the containment of the Covid19 pandemic. Given the focus on the acquisition of digital skills, which are increasingly widespread and necessary in the workplace, the opportunity was also taken as a training opportunity.
The trainees who did not have the necessary equipment to follow the course remotely were provided with personal computers for the duration of the course, guaranteeing technical and didactic support from the tutor and teachers.
By facing and overcoming the technical difficulties related to the Internet infrastructure, which was not always reliable, and the remote problem solving related to the tools provided, 73% of the participants successfully completed the course, achieving the frequency required to obtain the certificate of participation.
The trainees were 9 women and 6 men reported by social services and reception facilities for people on socio-occupational inclusion paths in the Bologna area and they represented 9 different countries: Italy, Albania, Nigeria, Pakistan, Mali, Sierra Leone, Gambia, Ivory Coast, Sudan.
The participants spent 80 hours on the use of computers and their main applications, on the acquisition of transversal digital skills, from the awareness of privacy and security issues to the ability to search and select information, collaborate online and produce, edit, share documents and contents through the main sharing tools.
The 40 hours realised by the Lavoropiù agency were dedicated to the use of digital tools such as handhelds, apps, digital maps, security systems now in use in many companies and working sectors. Two modules of 4 hours each were dedicated to general safety in the workplace and the functioning of the labour supply system.
40 hours were devoted to topics such as the protection of workers' rights through trade unions and job contracts, and how to recognise and deal with discrimination in the workplace against minorities, sexual orientation, ethnic groups, nationalities and people with disabilities.
A final module of 40 hours was devoted to active job search using different digital tools and how to do it effectively.
The second edition of the course for the year 2020-2021 is currently underway with 16 new participants from different parts of Italy.
